In fact, even though I've done all of their substories, I still have no clue if I was even playing the minigame right because there was no tutorial. That was going to be the other thing I mentioned no, the rating doesn't advance regardless. You don't even have to get good dialog cards because their rating will advance regardless

Here's hoping there's more depth in K2, and that Shin Yakuza takes more inspiration from Y5 in this regard. I'm not sure how Kiwami 2 works its hostesses, beyond it using a similar minigame to Y0, and I intend to avoid spoilers of the game for the next few months. It seems more of a chore, despite their being several girls for Kiryu to choose from. And you automatically advance the hostess ranking each time you request her, regardless of how well or poorly you do with her. Its more 'choose which gives the most 'plus' to the meter, damn everything else.

Plus I miss Saejima throwing horse stance punches and Kiryu directing airplanes during Karaoke. It felt like we got to know each hostess. In Y5, we had a hostess for each protaganists, 2 for Kiryu, Each one had a chain of conversations, with a variety of responses, plus several for each ranking along with a chained substory. Simply put, I dislike Y6's method of hostesses when compared to Y5. (Spoilers do not need to be tagged on /r/yakooza, so browse with caution.) Upcoming Releases Title
